Yoga Beach House is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School providing the 200 hours Yoga Teacher Training Certificate program led by Rachel Hanberry, founder and co-owner of Yoga Beach House. This course enables you to obtain a certificate to register with Yoga Alliance to teach yoga anywhere in the world.  The Yoga Beach House Teacher Training programs takes place during an intensive residential women only stay where you get to experience and live a yogic lifestyle by the ocean. The course takes place in 3 programs in Spring (May), Summer (June) and Autumn (September).

A Journey Of Self-Enquiry And Transformation - Is it for you?

This is a life changing experience which takes place over an intensive yet transformative 20 consecutive days and nights of yoga training.  Designed to enable you to start teaching as soon as you have completed the training it encompasses all aspects of the yogic lifestyle for you to confidently incorporate into your own life.  The 200 hours Yoga Teacher Training Certificate program is open to applicants who have been practicing yoga regularly for at least 2 years. You will be accepted onto the course with your commitment and passion for yoga as been communicated with your love for yoga and your motivation to further your own practice.

You have the desire to become a yoga teacher and complete the yoga teacher training requirements, providing you with the confidence, humility, compassion and competence to teach yoga. Be part of a close circle of women who are sharing this journey with you.

Want to learn how to creatively sequence Hatha based Vinyasa flow classes that will keep you and your students inspired indefinitely?

This is not a training that provides a one sequence class that you learn by heart and teach each time like in Bikram, Ashtanga or Sivananda. This course is a transformative program and a great personal opportunity for those of you who wish to teach yoga as a career and for those of you who are ready to embark on a personal journey of self-enquiry and transformation. It takes great courage and integrity to begin this lifetime's work.

About Rachel - Lead Instructor

This program is the  accumulation of Rachel Hanberry’s continuous study of herself and her students, combining her knowledge of yoga, psychology and life coaching to create one life changing program.  

Along with her business and life partner James, Rachel is co-director of Yoga Beach House, Biscarrosse, France. She is lead teacher for the Yoga Teacher Training Certificate 200 (TTC200) and facilitates visiting teachers and yogis from all over the world to come to Yoga Beach House.

Rachel began her yoga journey in 2011 when she took her first teacher training at the Sivananda Ashram. This transformative journey enabled her to start sharing her love for the practice. Using techniques that she acquired from her background in Psychology and life coaching Rachel created a teacher training that goes above and beyond a regular yoga teacher training.

Rachel created this program following her calling for her to impart the knowledge that has been passed down to her by her teachers and influencers - Swami Sivananda, Elena Brower, Shiva Rea, Jason Crandell, Leslie Kaminoff, Pixie Lighthorse, Paramatma Siri Sadhana and the Yoga Detour. Rachel radiates warmth, love, humility and understanding, creating a safe environment for learning and sharing.  As the training takes place Rachel's home, you will be invited to become part of the household and family, creating an environment of loving support. The groups are small, this is a unique experience to live as a yogi in a fully functioning yoga house and studio.

Rachel knows this training requires courage, strength and a willingness to go within. Rachel invites you to look deeply at yourself and transform the parts of your life that are not serving you. In turn you will able to then pass these techniques on to your students.

Skill Levels/ Pre-Conditions

This is an advanced yoga training. You need to have been practicing each week for at least 18 months. You must have a good level of physical and mental health. You must have overcome addictions such as smoking, alcohol, drugs 3 months before the start of the course.  You will live and participate in a smoke free and sober space without caffeinated teas or coffee during the program to enhance your meditation and mindfulness practice.

Styles

  • Vinyasa Flow

Our teacher training concentrates on Classical, Vinyasa and Restorative yoga poses, drawn from the both Swami Sivananda and T. Krishnamacharya lineages. The course is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation for teaching yoga skilfully with emphasis on human anatomy, humility, compassion and mindfulness.

Certification

Yoga Beach House is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School providing the 200 hours Yoga Teacher Training Certificate program. This course enables you to obtain a certificate to register with Yoga Alliance and teach yoga anywhere in the world.  Yoga Alliance is the most well recognised yoga body internationally. Students who complete the training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

Program

The Yoga Beach House Yoga Teacher Training is a comprehensive yoga teacher training which follows the guidelines set out by the Yoga Alliance for Registered Yoga Schools. As a student you will be guided to become an ethical leader, encouraging self enquiry leading to embracing yourself with mindfulness and acceptance, cultivating a philosophy of oneness. For those of you who wish to teach, the training provides the tools to undertake this calling confidently whilst maintaining humility and mindfulness.

You will be encouraged to tap into your own creativity and intuition, enabling you to create and teach classes from your heart.

This teacher training concentrates on classical, Vinyasa and restorative yoga poses, brought together by a unique blend of Vinyasa flows which are made accessible to all levels and abilities. The yoga taught is drawn from the both Swami Sivananda and T. Krishnamacharya lineages.

The course is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation for teaching yoga skillfully with humility, compassion, and mindfulness. The course also provides an in-depth study into the practices of yoga.

Teacher training groups are small enabling you to benefit from one on one tuition with teachers and creating a close family environment. You participate in a yogic lifestyle from day one at the Yoga Beach House, encouraging and promoting this new lifestyle to become your new norm.

The course gives you the opportunity to experience the true essence of yoga in a learning environment which is accepting, compassionate, non-judgemental, warm and full of love.

We are blessed to be surrounded by the beauty of the Atlantic coast and Pine Forests so we practice yoga on the beach, swim in the sea and meditate to the sound of the waves, walk in the forests.  All these practices are designed to ground you to nature, your true self and your intuition.

Yoga Beach House continues to operates as a yoga studio and runs limited yoga classes throughout the duration of the teacher training. You will have the optional opportunity to teach part of a class to our community members. This is a unique opportunity to obtain hands on experience with in a real yoga studio before completing the program. A rarity for a teacher training program.

At Yoga Beach House we work with the Celtic Wheel to guide our practice and to become more in tune with our own intuition. We begin in the East with a beginners mind, then move to South using the fire to inform our learning. We then progress to the West and learn from the wisdom that we have acquired calling on our guides to lead us and finally finishing in the North with the accumulation of the training, a transformation and subsequent rebirth.

The course is split into 3 modules -

Practice

This module equips you with all you need to set up your own daily meditation, pranayama, asana, karma, kriya and kirtan practices. On completion of this module you will understand why these practices are essential to your own yoga practice as a yoga teacher.  

Learn

In this module you will learn in depth yoga poses with relation to human anatomy, energy anatomy and the various energy bodies, you will gain an introduction into Ayurvedic medicine, you will study of the Bhagavad Gita in depth and be able to apply it’s teachings to everyday life, you will learn the ethics of becoming a yoga teacher and the yogic philosophy which supports this, you will learn about a healthy diet and nutrition for various body types, you will learn how to observe and adjust your students effectively, you will learn specific teaching methodologies.  On completion of this module you will be fully equipped to begin teaching yoga to other people.

Evolve

The Evolve module is where your transformation takes place. You will learn techniques to Evolve yourself and your practice, you will understand how to put into place boundaries and protection for yourself and your practice, you will understand how to stand in your power and not give it away, you will begin to follow the 8 limbs of Raja yoga, including utilising the yamas and niyamas in your everyday decision making and not just when teaching. You will create your own Seva project to implement on completion of the course. You will continue your journey of self discovery through daily journaling, you will begin to live a more sustainable life, practising mindfulness and humility. You will learn how to live as a yoga teacher in the real world with abundance and marketing workshops. You will evolve into your best self, in harmony with your own intuition and higher self.

Included Excursions

If time and conditions permit we will include a Stand Up Paddle Yoga trip to the lake (board hire not included) and a sunset trip to Dune du Pyla.

Retreat Location

This yoga teacher training course takes place at Villa Bhuvana, the home of Yoga Beach House and Rachel Hanberry. Biscarrosse Plage, France. Biscarrosse Plage is a stunning small seaside town location in South West France. Close to nature, healing salty air, pine forest aromas and inspirational coastal views. It is the iconic location for the good life by the sea.

Getting here

Recommended airport - Bordeaux Merignac BDX (Easyjet, BA, Air France, Ryannair, KLM etc)

Transfers - We will help co-ordinate a minibus to leave from Bordeaux Merignac Airport about 17h on the Sunday or day of arrival. Same for the return. Depending on numbers this varies from 30-60€ pp each way. 

Accommodation

Accommodation is at the lodge at Yoga Beach House. This consists of a large house with 5 guest bedrooms, communal guests areas and guest kitchen a short walk from the ocean, beach and pine forests.  Ensuite options are available. Bed clothes, beach and shower towels are provided.

The house was recently renovated with yoga at the heart by creating a mindful space with a vibe of peace and love. The interior is welcoming with natural pine and simple furniture, which has been restored or up-cycled.

We want to ensure you are comfortable and get the space you need. As shared and private rooms are limited, we will do our best to ensure everyone can gets their preferred room option. Please request your preferred option on the application.

For a full immersion into the course and to really benefit from a yogic lifestyle we require that you live at Yoga Beach for the duration of the course and no off site living is permitted.

Meals

2 meals per day, a healthy two course brunch and a dinner are included in the price of this retreat. The first meal is on the Sunday evening on arrival and the last is brunch on the Saturday before departure.

Yoga Beach House offers a simple organic home cooked vegetarian diet with brunches consisting of offerings such as porridge, granola, fruits bowls, vegan pancakes, omelettes, yummy soups and home made wholemeal bread and evening meals consisting of dishes like salads, buddha bowls, veggie bakes, veggie chilli and kitchari. Many dishes have been inspired by recent well being cook books like Deliciously Ella and the Happy Pear.  

Special diet requests should be made during the application process and not on arrival as we cannot cater for specific dietary requirements unless we have been notified beforehand. Alcohol is not permitted for the duration of the course. Yoga Beach House is guaranteed smoke free.

Cancellation Policy

The first 500€ of any payment is regarded as the booking deposit and after 10 days of receiving your booking confirmation is non-refundable but should a cancellation arise it may (subject to instructors discretion) be possible to it put towards another training within the same calendar year. All enrolment payments are subject to a 10 day cooling off period with no questions asked where any payment will be refunded less any banking fees. See terms for more info.

Each training is limited to 6 participants so spaces is limited and it is advised not to procrastinate if your gut feel is telling you to apply.

Submit the application (link) in as much detail as possible with honesty and openness.

Upon submission we will arrange a short video call on Zoom with Rachel to discuss your application and answer any of your questions and decide if this is the best program for you.

Once accepted, be prepared to accept or decline the spaces within 5 days from acceptance.

How To Book

Once your application has been confirmed you will be invited to make a payment to secure your space by direct bank transfer

Upon the first payment you will then receive confirmation of enrolment with program info and the required book list. Further information will be sent before the course start date.
