Why a sea dip a day keeps the blues away?

Why a sea dip a day keeps the blues away?

At Yoga Beach House we are fortunate enough to have the great Atlantic Ocean on our doorstep which is perfect for ocean lovers such as ourselves. However apart from loving the ocean for the sheer joy of it, there are numerous health benefits behind our daily dips. We encourage our retreat guests and teacher training students to benefit from the healing salty water when staying here. Want to know why?

Vitamin and Mineral Boost

The ocean contains many minerals that our bodies need like magnesium, calcium, sodium and potassium. They all play a role in the health of our skin, allowing cells to communicate with each other and heal issues that crop up. If you don’t have enough of a mineral, you’ll see skin dryness, dullness, irritation and blotchiness. Sea salt can naturally improve hydration and strengthen the outer layer of the skin to keep you looking healthy.

Mood Enhancer

The ocean also contains other microorganisms that can release substances like helpful bacteria and chemicals that affect our hormonal balances to improve our overall quality of life. Bathing in sea water helps to improve your peace of mind, energy levels and ability to handle problems that arise in life. Other benefits to your psychological health include better confidence levels, more self control and better sleep.

Abundant Source of Negative Ions

The ocean typically has 2000 negative ions and 1000 positive ions. The force of the splashing water causes the splitting of neutral particles of air, which frees electrons to attach to other air molecules causing a negative charge. Negative ions are extremely powerful. They can enhance our mood, stimulate our senses, improve our appetite and sexual drive.  Negative ions neutralise free radicals and enhance the immune system. They balance the autonomic nervous system and promote deeper sleep and better digestion. The body is better able to absorb oxygen into the blood cells, oxidize serotonin and filter airborne contaminants.  They can provide relief from allergies, hay fever, sinusitis, asthma, migraines.

You never regret it

We hear a lot of complaining before our guests go in the water but no complaints once they come out! Just child like joy. We love it.

That's enough persuasion, lets go for a dip. See you in the sea!
